New Mills & District Railway Modellers
Bridgford — N Gauge
11'6"x4'6"
Bridgford is a ‘watch the trains go by’ type of layout. The object is to run trains which are not out of proportion to the scenery, and which are as near as possible to the prototype in make up and length. Most of the buildings are from the SD Mouldings range, the rest are either Ratio kits or scratchbuilt. Signals are Ratio with MSE arms. The viaduct etchings are by courtesy of Mike Raithby of the Manchester MRS, construction being of brass. Locomotives are kits or heavily modified proprietary. The coaches are ‘Ultima’ kits and are marshalled as nearly as possible in the correct formations for the late 1930’s. Goods stock is the usual mix of scratchbuilt, kits and modified proprietary and certainly in the case of the Garratt’s train, straight out of the box. Some of the goods stock is fitted with DG Couplings for shunting.
